County Executive Mark A. Hackel appoints new deputy county executive
Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel today announced the appointment of Vicki Wolber as a new deputy county executive. Wolber has worked for the county for more than 18 years, previously serving as the director of Macomb County Emergency Management and Communications. In her new role as deputy county executive, she will focus on issues relating to public safety while also assisting in the day-to-day operations of county departments and services.
"Vicki has been a tremendous resource for Macomb County through her longtime service in emergency management and communications," said Hackel. "She is a strong leader with impressive credentials and I am thrilled to appoint her to the deputy executive position. Looking ahead, I am confident that she will use her extensive experience and insights to deliver effective services and programming for residents."
Wolber started with Macomb County in 2000 as assistant director of Macomb's Emergency Management and Communications Department. She was promoted to director in 2007, a role where she was entrusted with preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation activities as they pertain to large-scale emergencies or disasters. She was also responsible for the coordination, oversight and maintenance of the county's 800 MHz Public Safety Radio Communications System, which provides voice communications for all of the public safety agencies in the county. Notably, Wolber also oversaw the creation of the Communications & Technology Center (COMTEC) for Macomb County, a state-of-the-art facility which houses the Sheriff's Office Dispatch, the Road Department Traffic Operations Center, the Information Technology Department and their Data Center and the Emergency Management Office.
Prior to this work with Macomb County, Wolber was employed with the city of Fraser, where she progressed from a part-time secretary in the Fraser Department of Public Works to emergency management coordinator and then finally, to deputy city clerk. She is a certified Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) in the State of Michigan and is a graduate of Walsh College and Macomb Community College.
