Mark's Message

The end of summer is here. Last time this newsletter went out, school had just let out and plans for summer fun in Macomb County were underway. Now, school is back in session and fall activities are starting to pile up.

One important project that has taken shape over the summer is the construction of the Administration Building’s south parking lot. Macomb County officials broke ground on phase one of this $65 million downtown Mount Clemens redevelopment project in early June. The project is still right on track to be completed in winter 2016.

News from Macomb County Animal Control

pawsThe Animal Control Department has some amazing news! We have officially begun doing adoptions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays at Gibraltar Trade Center. This is a fantastic step for the department as it allows us more opportunities to find homes for our homeless pets. We are incredibly grateful to Gibraltar for the warm welcome and to the community for supporting us.

In addition, the department has replaced a large section of our cages with brand new kennels that provide more space for the animals housed in them.

This improvement is thanks to a grant and is a sign of the continuing growth at Macomb County's Animal Control Department!

Please come by and see us at the department or at Gibraltar on Saturdays!

For more information on available pets, call(586) 469-5115 or visit http://macombgov.org/AnimalControl-Adopt.

Most people can’t wait to retire. They spend all their working hours thinking about what they’ll do once they don’t have to clock in every day.

But not Martha Waroway, an accountant for the Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board.

“I love working,” she said. “I love being around people. If I wasn’t working, I’d be volunteering. I think the way to stay as young as possible is to be involved.”
