Construction updates effective September 18, 2014
Pavement replacement project: 14 Mile Road, Garfield Road to Kelly Road, City of Fraser Complete and open to traffic
Description: Project consists of removing and pouring patches in locations identified as having structural deficient concrete. Lanes are closed as necessary and work areas are marked off with orange barrels. Expect some intermittent delay in this area.
Construction project: Van Dyke Avenue from 25 Mile to 26 Mile Road, Shelby Township
Project start date: May 12, 2014
Estimated completion date: October 15, 2014
Description: Almost 1 mile of concrete pavement reconstruction and widening to five lanes. The project includes sidewalk, and ramps, storm sewer, pavement markings and restoration.
Construction project: Ivy Drive – north of 29 Mile Road, Washington Township
Project start date: September 19, 2014
Estimated completion date: October 17, 2014
Description: Crushing and shaping of the existing pavement and restoration work.
Pavement replacement project: North Avenue from 21 Mile Road to 22 Mile Road, Macomb Township
Project start date: September 4, 2014
Estimated completion date: September 26, 2014
Description: Project consists of cold milling existing asphalt pavement, repairing cracks and joints and placement of new layer of Hot Mix Asphalt. Work areas are marked off with orange barrels. Expect some intermittent delay in these areas.
Pavement replacement project: Schoenherr Road at M-59, Sterling Heights, city of Utica, Shelby and M-59 westbound service drive at Mound Road, city of Sterling Heights and Shelby Township

Description: Project consists of conversion of a portion of gravel road to hot mix asphalt surface. Project will include construction of base of road, drainage, hot mix asphalt surface and landscape repair.
Construction project: 25 Mile Road from Mound Road to Van Dyke, Shelby Township
Project start date: June 4, 2014
Estimated completion date: October 30, 2014
Description: One mile of asphalt road reconstruction with pavement removal, curb and gutter, storm sewer and landscape restoration.

Construction project: Wolcott Road over North Branch of Clinton River, Ray Township
Project start date: August 18, 2014
Road will be closed
Estimated completion date: November 15, 2014
Description: Bridge removal and replacement with pre-stressed concrete box beams on concrete substructures, concrete approach paving, guardrail placement, and traffic control on Wolcott Road. Road closure will occur the week of March 18, 2014. Official detour will be signed.
Construction project: Hayes Road from 21 Mile to 23 Mile Road, Border of Shelby Township and Macomb Township
Project start date: July 7, 2014
Estimated completion date: August 1, 2015
Description: Project consists of 1.9 miles of concrete pavement reconstruction and widening, concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and ramps, storm sewer, pavement markings and landscape restoration.
Pavement marking project
Two phases to the project:
1. Special Pavement Markings - Work will be south of M-59 (Hall Road) and 23 Mile and Schoenherr
2. Pavement Line Markings – Work will be going on throughout locations in Macomb County.
Project start date: July 16, 2014
Estimated completion date: September 29, 2014
Description: The contractor’s first task will be to complete all special pavement markings that include recess cold plastic cross walks, stop bars, special symbols, turning arrows, etc. This will be at intersections south of Hall Road (M-59) and 23 Mile and Schoenherr intersections.
Lane closures to construct sanitary sewer meter facility: 18 Mile Road and Hayes Road, Sterling Heights and Clinton Township.
Closure start date: April 17, 2014
Estimated open date: December 1, 2014
Northbound Hayes Road right most lane (approximately 0.75 Miles south of the 18 Mile Road intersection) and right turn lane are closed south of 18 Mile Road. Right turns are allowed from northbound Hayes onto eastbound 18 Mile Road. There is a lane shift in place for northbound traffic. Westbound18 Mile (rightmost) right turn lane at Hayes Road is closed. Westbound 18 Mile Road still has two lanes open to thru traffic (one lane is for right turns only and the other lane is for left turns only onto Hayes Road).
