Macomb County administrative offices and courts closed for Juneteenth
Macomb County has announced that its government offices and the courts will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022 to mark Juneteenth. County emergency and 24/7 services will not be impacted by the closing.
Juneteenth, which is officially celebrated on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Macomb County’s announcement follows the federal government, the State of Michigan and the Michigan Supreme Court declaring Juneteenth a holiday for workers.
"In response to the court's mandate to observe Juneteenth, the County assessed the impact on the overall operations and made the decision to also honor the day for 2022 with plans to continue discussions of observing it in the future,” said Karlyn Semlow, director, Macomb County Human Resources and Labor Relations.
